Mobile data transmissions at 250 Mbit/s

What the future of mobile commications will be made of ? Well, it seems communications speed are going to increase dramatically in the near future. Japan’s NTT DoCoMo announced successful experiments with a 250 Mbit/s on the down-link. They expect first deployments starting as early as 2010.

As a comparison, the current state of the art technology 3G+ (called HSDPA), supports down-link speeds ranging from 1.8 to 14.4 Mbit/s. This technology is going to be soon upgraded (Evolved HSPA) to offer 42 Mbit/s.
